July 31, 2008 - I love my clients!
I've received some super nice notes from my clients over the past couple of days ... so nice, that I just had to share!
Thanks guys! You made my whole week!
July 27, 2008 - Scott & Suzanne's wedding
I had a FANTASTIC time in Barrhead yesterday at Scott & Suzanne's wedding!! Please forgive the long write-up here, but I had such fun, I just have to talk about it!
The girls got ready in the morning at Scott's parents' beautiful acreage outside of Barrhead. The house was full of bridesmaids, a flower girl, moms and grandmas along with some terrific hair dressers. Suzanne is an event coordinator at Grant MacEwan college in Edmonton, and her organizational skills definitely showed in how she planned her wedding, made sure everything arrived and got to where it needed to be, and she delegated like no one I've ever seen before! Suzanne, you'd be a great wedding planner!!
The guys arrived at the acreage before the ceremony started. The ceremony also took place at the Bielert acreage, and the setting couldn't have been more beautiful, with a gorgeous garden and natural forest all around. Pastor Bob McLaren - a member of Suzanne's family - put on a beautiful service!
After the ceremony, I headed to Thunder Lake with the wedding party for some super fun group photos. They were an awesome group to work with! Thanks Debbie, Erin, Sariah, Breanna, Shawn, Cody, Kent and Steve for being so great and forgiving me for forgetting and/or screwing up your names - I loved meeting you guys! I swear I know who all of you are now!
We headed back to the Bielert acreage for some quick family photos and some couples photos before heading out to what I'm sure was the highlight of the photos for Scott (Scott is a fireman in the City of Edmonton) - photos with the Barrhead Fire Department's brand new fire truck! A big THANK YOU goes out to the Deputy Chief for letting us borrow his truck and giving Scott and Suzanne a ride out to Summerdale Hall - you definitely made a great day even better!!
One of my favorite things about receptions is hearing the speeches. Though I've (usually) spent the whole day with the bridal party, the speeches given by close friends and family are always so revealing about the couple. I learned that Scott decided to become a fireman after watching the twin towers fall on 9/11. I learned that Suzanne can *apparently* be a bitch sometimes (hey, like Tina Fey says - bitches get stuff done!!), but Suzanne has always been sweet as pie to me, so I don't believe a word of it. I learned how Scott & Suzanne met (through friends), how dedicated they both are to their families and how incredibly close they are to their families.
The close bond to their families and friends echoed throughout the night. I enjoyed meeting a cowboy gentleman who could be seen throughout the day toting around his four month old grandson. The cowboy told me the story of Scott's birth, and how he got to see Scott before his own mother did! I saw how Scott stopped to visit with all the young children at the wedding and play-fought with the two year old twin ring bearers, and I saw how Suzanne adores her six year old niece, Madison.
Scott and Suzanne, I know you guys are going to have a great marriage because you're both so grounded, you have such supportive and loving families, and because you're so well-matched. You both have big, beautiful, genuine smiles and the way you look at each other, even when the other person isn't paying attention, is inspiring to even this old married lady. Thank you for choosing me as your photographer - I will always treasure being a small part of your wedding day!
A big shout out to Mark, Suzanne's brother, who emceed the evening - you did an awesome job! I neglected to get the name of the caterer, but the food was great - thank you, and thanks Scott & Suzanne for feeding me! DJ Rob from Starlight DJ Services spun the tunes throughout the night and is the only DJ I've ever seen who obviously loved his job so much - he was up and dancing and singing along to ever song! You were awesome Rob! Thanks also to Kathy and Ron, Mike and Dorothy, Cindy and Marvin, Dorothy, Inus and Lucy. Scott & Suzanne are so lucky to have great parents and grandparents like you, and thank you for your help and hospitality.

July 22, 2008 - Ben & Vanessa's engagement session
I spent some time with Ben & Vanessa on Sunday for their engagement session. They're getting married on Ben's family's farm in late August (where I shot Ben's brother's wedding last August) and they asked me to photograph their wedding! It will be awesome to spend the day with the Tilleman family and revisit some of the awesome locations from last year!

July 22, 2008 - Sean & Sara's wedding
I was back in my old stomping grounds - Calgary! - this past weekend to photograph Sean & Sara's wedding. It was great to be back in the city where I grew up and to enjoy the famous friendly hospitality of Calgarians!
I got to hang out with Sara's family and friends at her mom's house in the morning as the girls got ready. They were a super fun group! There were lots of cute kids running around and lots of laughter.
The ceremony took place in Sean's parents' beautifully landscaped backyard, which was filled with family and friends who overflowed into the yard next door.
After the wedding, we headed over to Confederation Park for the "formal" photos ... we had a lot of fun!
Thanks for choosing me as your wedding photographer Sean & Sara! You guys are an awesome couple and you have a long and happy future ahead of you. Enjoy every moment!

July 14, 2008 - studio goodness!
I've been making an effort to update the photos that are hanging in the studio. I hadn't got any new ones since the bridal show back in February, so they were badly in need of updating!
I have a couple of gorgeous canvasses up and more stuff on the way. It's hard to narrow down my favorites to the few I can fit in the studio - I have photos that I just LOVE from every wedding!
Here are a few snaps of the new stuff that came in on Saturday ...
One of my favorite shots from Carmen & Brody's wedding ... I have a lot of favorites from their wedding!
This is a 20x30 3/4" gallery wrapped canvas, metallic print with satinex finish. These sell for $500.
A 20x30 metallic print mounted on foamcore ($160) - I haven't decided where exactly this one will hang, so for now it's just on top of another one.

July 13, 2008 - Glenda & Phil's engagement session
I adore Glenda and Phil. I first met them in February at the Weddings on the Border bridal show in Lloydminster. They had wandered over after the bull sale, and they weren't even engaged yet! They just looked like our kind of people - that is, agriculturally-oriented - and we spent quite a bit of time chatting with them.
A few weeks later, Phil popped the question (for which I take full credit) and they remembered me from the bridal show and called me up. We met, they booked me for their November wedding, and now we live happily ever after.
We had a great time at Bud Miller Park in Lloydminster last night. The weather was perfect, the baby geese were cute and Glenda and Phil are super nice. Can't wait for your wedding in November!!
Here are a few of my favorites from their engagement session ....
July 11, 2008 - Carmen & Brody's gallery is now public!
If you've been dying to see the rest of the AWESOME photos from Carmen & Brody's Turtleford/Mervin wedding, today is your lucky day! I've opened the gallery up for public consumption.
I'm absolutely tickled pink about the photos from this wedding and I've already got some great enlargements and a canvas ordered for the studio from this wedding. I'll be working on a super awesome studio sample album soon, too!
Check the gallery out here.
July 10, 2008 - studio sample album
I couldn't resist doing up a sample album from Brad & Wendy's April album. I've ordered an 8x12 20 page Finao Elements album in Happy Cow "Purple Haze" to go with the wedding colors. It's gonna look awesome!
Here's the layout. I'll post pictures of the finished product once the album arrives from Finao.
July 7, 2008 - we now do invitations!
We have expanded our services to include invitation design and printing! We saw a real need for reliable, personal invitation services in the Lakeland region and we're filling it. In conjunction with an awesome printer in Ontario, we're able to get these invitations completed and in your hands in about two weeks after design approval.
At this time, we are only offering our invitations to our photography clients - that is, the lovely couples who have already booked us to photograph their weddings. We are making one exception though - clients of Kaylie Franklin's Happily Ever After Wedding Consulting will also be able to order invitations through Jennifer Jacula Photography.
Our pricing is very competitive and you'll be involved throughout the design process. Nothing gets printed until you're completely happy! Download pricing (PDF)
Here's a sample of what we've done so far ... but if you can dream it, we can design it! We do folded invitations in many sizes, 5x5 Trifolds, RSVP cards, bookmarks, save-the-date magnets and more!

July 6, 2008 - Chris & Lisa's wedding
Congratulations Chris & Lisa!!
Chris & Lisa are high school sweethearts from Mannville, Alberta and they have the most adorable little boy, Jordan. Today they were married at the United Church in Vermilion, surrounded by their family and friends, and we were so pleased to be a part of their day.
After making their marriage official, we headed off to the Vermilion Provincial Park for photos. It was a beautiful sunny day with gorgeous puffy clouds, and though it rained north of town, the rain didn't dare interrupt Chris and Lisa's special day!
I hope you guys had a blast at the reception! Talk to you soon!
