January 30, 2008 - photographers are
geeks. Or maybe it's just us.
I was SO lucky to work with the
fantastic Lloyd Yoon of
Night and Day Photography on Eric and Ruth's wedding.
And because we're geeks, we sneakily took pictures of each
other working throughout the day. I'm afraid the practice
is rampant among photographers who are friends - we just
never show our clients those shots. Until today!
Thanks again for second shooting for me
Lloyd! You can shoot with me anytime!

And here are some photos of me in
action that Lloyd took that day ...
Directing the posing for a family shot.

Standing on a chair, taking a wedding
party shot.

Working the natural light from a big
window in the church

Carefully fjording an indoor stream at
the Ramada. I also climbed rock walls, hid in forests,
wedged myself into corners behind piles of luggage and
climbed on chairs. All in a day's work! I suffer for my
art!

The "take a picture of me while I'm
taking a picture of you" shot. Lloyd won, since my flash
didn't fire. Murphy's law!

January 29, 2008 - more from Eric &
Ruth's wedding
More favorites ... I've been adding
more photos to Ruth and Eric's online gallery as I find
the time.
Jana

*ahem* I may have been told not to
shoot during the ceremony. I shot this from outside the
church doors ... so I don't think I broke the rules.
(Don't tell the Reverend!)

Phil ... Phil and I go way back to 1998
at Olds College. Phil has a long history of not smiling
for photos, so I made it my personal mission to capture a
REAL smile from Phil on camera. Mission accomplished!

January 28, 2008 - Eric and Ruth's
wedding
I had a great day on Saturday at Eric
and Ruth's wedding in Edmonton! Lots of family, kids and a
dog running around - and yet, it was a pretty mellow group
of people!
Thanks for having Lloyd and I out to
photograph your special day - we had a blast with you
guys!
Ruth's dress - like Ruth herself, it
was beautiful and elegant

Karma! She was so well-behaved.

Ruth, whom I like to refer to as
"ridiculously good-looking."

We weren't allowed to photograph during
the ceremony, but here they are walking down the aisle
afterwards.

St. Faith's Anglican Church is
BEAUTIFUL on the inside.

We shot the formals at the Ramada on
Kingsway.

Lucie, who tried to tell me she doesn't
look good in pictures. Proved you wrong!

The girls - Lucie, Jana, Gayle, Ruth and
Dawn - Jana is Eric's beautiful sister, and if you
couldn't tell ...
Gayle, Ruth and Dawn are sisters, too!

Her lovely ivory roses

Every detail was so elegant!

The bling.

January 24, 2008 - coolest dude
EVER!
Today I had the absolute pleasure of
hanging out with Zack, who is just a wonderful person with
a fantastic sense of humor. He also knows more about the
Price is Right than anyone I've ever met! I had so much
fun meeting and photographing Zack. Thank you so much for
choosing me as your photographer!
Zack is SO expressive - it was so fun
to go through these photos!

January 24, 2008 - third
GraphiStudio album!
My third Graphi album came in today -
check out this silver varnished metallic cover! Beautiful!

January 21, 2008 - mamalicious
Melonie's maternity
Sorry, sometimes I just can't resist
alliteration.
The beautiful (and tiny!) Melonie, her
husband Joe and their adorable sons Thomas and Dayton came
out on Saturday for some maternity pictures. I had tons of
fun with Melonie and her kids! Dayton has the most
beautifully expressive face and he's such a cuddle bug.
Thomas was shy at first but warmed up towards the end.
Great kids!
Here are a few of my favorites from the
session - come back soon, you guys!
Dayton - cutest kid ever, yes?

January 19, 2008 - new blog look
I'm trying out a new, more girly look
for the blog in honour of Valentine's Day. You like? I
like.
January 18, 2008 - by the way, I
rock at boudoir photography!
Seriously, book your shoot now!
Boudoirs are really, really fun. Carla and I laughed the
whole time yesterday - we had a blast! Thanks again,
Carla, for being my model - you rock!
Just a few G-rated samples of the
totally awesome shoot from yesterday ...

January 17, 2008 - new Graphi
album!!
I got my 2007 portrait book back from
GraphiStudio yesterday. It looks awesome!!! I'm so jazzed!
I love GraphiStudio!
For this book, I chose a dustcover
(again), but for the inside this time I went went with
thick photographic paper. The quality is amazing!
Cover

Check out those thick, stitched pages!
These albums will last forever.

I gave each portrait session a page or
spread of its own. It turned out awesome!

This photo also shows the leather
briefcase the sample album came in. Pretty classy stuff!

And this is a sample album Graphi sent
me that shows their Transparent cover. It's a 9.5x13
book - you've gotta see it! It shows all the paper options
and different layout ideas. It's really cool! They also
sent me two smaller parent albums/pocket books that are so
cool - you're gonna want some!

January 17, 2008 - self-portraits
part deux
I feel for you guys, I really do. This
modelling stuff is hard work! Especially when you're
running the camera AND posing!
But seriously, look: I am a fat girl.
No ifs, ands or buts about it. And if I can make myself
look THIS GOOD without even being able to see through the
lens, just imagine how amazing I can make YOU look!
(Don't mind the slightly black eye. An
ironing board fell on my face the other day, oddly, I was
not doing anything related to ironing or laundry. It was
not a good day! I didn't even notice the black eye until
after I shot these, actually.)

January 16, 2008 - oh, those
gorgeous Pococks!
If you've been following this blog for
awhile, you might remember Carla, Ryan, Brody and Reece
from their wedding 07-21-07. I had the opportunity to meet
up with them again January 13 for a family shoot at their
beautiful ranch. They are awesome people - I could
photograph them all day long! I hope I see you guys again
soon!
(Ryan never smiles; he just does GQ
expressions)

Deb (Carla's mom) is an animal
communicator. When I first looked at this photo, I though
"Damn, the horse blinked." I almost deleted it, but I
glanced at it again and saw that the horse isn't blinking
- he has his eyes closed and is soaking up some of Deb's
good energy. Deb is truly one of the easiest people to be
around, she just makes a person feel so comfortable! I
guess it works on horses, too!

Reece

Brody and his kitty

I think the kitty's name is Jarry ...

January 8, 2008 - first Graphi
album!
I received my first GraphiStudio album
today! It ROCKS! It SO rocks! I'm super jazzed.
Thing is, I'm not someone who is easily
impressed. At all. I find myself often disappointed
because I hold myself to extremely high standards, and
mostly, everything else falls short of my personal
expectations.
But not Graphi. Graphi has totally
blown my expectations out of the water. I am SO impressed
with the quality of this book!
I have two more Graphi books either in
process or on their way to me from Italy. I'll be sure to
share pictures of those, too, as I chose different options
for each book, just for fun and so that I could show you,
my lovely clients, all your options.
Without further adieu, here are some
photos of the album - this one uses photos from Carla &
Ryan Pocock's wedding. It is an 8x12, 22 page book. An
identical book designed by Jennifer Jacula Photography
will run you $480 - and worth every penny for this example
of perfect gorgessity!
The cover - I chose a dust jacket cover
for this album. A dust jacket is the least expensive cover
option, but it still looks awesome!

Every book is stitch-bound - no way is
this book falling apart anytime soon! And check out those
thick pages!

Here you can see a little of the
textured paper - I chose thick textured paper for this
album and it really enhances the depth of the photos.

Sepia looks awesome too!

The smoochy spread

The really beautiful thing about Graphi
is that the pages are continuously bound, so you can
stretch a photo like this over an entire spread without
having to worry about losing a chunk out of the middle!

The happy ending.

January 5, 2008 - Heller 60th
Anniversary celebration
What's the secret to 60 years of
marriage? According to the Hellers', it's commitment,
communication and "you have to fight a little every now
and then."
I had a great time at this party and I
can honestly say that the whole Heller clan are some of
the nicest people I've ever met, right down to the
grandchildren and great grandchildren!
Thanks for choosing me as your
photographer! Let's do it again for your 70th Anniversary!
Here are a few of my favorites from the
day.
Muriel with one of her great
grandchildren - possibly the cutest baby girl I've seen
since my own daughter was a baby!

Looking good!

The lovely cake

Everybody signed in ...

I hope I still look at my husband like
that after 60 years!

The Hellers had congratulatory messages
on display from all sorts of dignitaries, including Her
Majesty!

With their five kids - I don't remember
what joke I told them, but it looks like it was a good
one!

January 1, 2008 - New Year's Eve
wedding
My lovely and talented assistant,
Kendra, and I had an awesome time photographing Jodi and
Morris' wedding in Minburn yesterday!
Jodi and Morris were super fun and very
laid back and they made our jobs easy - even though it was
-20 celsius and we shot a lot of stuff outdoors!
A big shout out to Rev. Paula Ashby of
Minburn, Mannville and Innisfree United Churches -
possibly the coolest Reverend ever! I hope to work another
wedding with you very soon!
Here's the sneak preview from Jodi and
Morris' wedding ...
