June 23, 2007 - can you see me in her
eyes?
My daughter looks like me, I think. She
definitely has my eyes. But today I could actually see
myself IN her eyes. How much do I love my new 30D? SOOOOOO
much!

June 19, 2007 - more from around the
farm
These were all shot after 9 p.m.
last night, so was using 1600 ISO and various shutter
speeds and apertures.
Anna banana, coming over the hill to see
what we're doing.

The tractor at rest after cultivating
the summerfallow.

I call this area of the farm the bone
yard ... it's where old tractors and trucks go to die.

Farmall M

Another tractor, finished spraying and
now just sitting .. waiting.

June 13, 2007 - Swiper no swiping!
Our
friendly neighborhood foxes, who have taken up residence
under an old abandoned building in our yard. These are the
young ones and we saw them playing outside today, no
parents in sight.
We think the one on the right is the male. He's bolder
and a prettier color.

June 11, 2007 - Calgary Zoo photos
Had fun at the zoo on Saturday, but my legs and knees are
still sore - that's a lot of walking! I shot completely in
manual for the whole trip - quite a challenge with
the different lighting in each animal area!
This was actually indoors, in one of the
few well-lit buildings.

Female gorilla. She was amazing, watched
every single person that came around the corner to her
area.

African wild dogs. Our dogs do the same
thing on hot days - sleep!

Crazy little lemur, at large in one of
the exhibits. Cool little fella, but he insisted on hiding
way up inside a tree.

Peacock ... this one was actually inside
an enclosure. We spotted a few more just wandering around,
doing their own thing inside the zoo.

Flamingo. Cool birds!

Indoors and in a dark area, loved the
wild hair on these little guys.

Lit by a skylight, these monkeys were
literally hanging out.

Let's just pretend this monkey isn't
peeing.

Very strange ant eater, in a very dark
enclosure.

Wise-looking fella.

Elephants ... their usual area is under
construction, so they were in this smaller area and not
terribly happy about it.

Cougar in the Canadian Wilds area.

Grizzly bears. They almost look cuddly.

June 3, 2007 - Welcome to Alberta
Here's what comedian Jeff Foxworthy has to say about
Albertans:
If someone in a Home Depot store offers you assistance and
they don't work there, you live in Alberta.
If you've worn shorts and a parka at the same time, you
live in Alberta.
If you've had a lengthy telephone conversation with
someone who dialed a wrong number, you live in Alberta.
If "Vacation" means going anywhere south of Edmonton for
the weekend, you live in Alberta.
If you measure distance in hours, you live in Alberta.
If you know several people who have hit a deer more than
once, you live in Alberta.
If you have switched from "heat" to "air conditioning" and
back again in the same day, you live in Alberta .
If you can drive 75 mph through 2 feet of snow during a
raging blizzard without flinching, you live in Alberta.
If you install security lights on your house and garage,
but leave both unlocked, you live in Alberta.
If you carry jumpers in your car and your wife knows how
to use them, you live in Alberta.
If you design your kid's Halloween costume to fit over a
snowsuit, you live in Alberta .
If driving is better in the winter because the potholes
are filled with snow, you live in Alberta .
If you know all 4 seasons: almost winter, winter, still
winter and road construction, you live in Alberta.
If you have more miles on your snow blower than your car,
you live in Alberta.

June 1, 2007 - hot and sunny
It's damned hot out and way too bright to try to shoot in
the sun!
