Ray & Adrienne’s Pierceland wedding
Here’s the sneak peak from Ray & Adrienne’s Pierceland wedding July 4, 2009. (Pierceland is not too far from Cold Lake, but on the Saskatchewan side of the border.)
I had so much fun at this wedding! I know, I know – I always say that. But I really did! The 12 hours of shooting went by SUPER FAST and we were warmly welcomed by Ray & Adrienne’s family and friends. The lovely Patricia Burak was my second shooter for the day, and she’s always a blast to hang with.
The girls started their day at the beautiful private home of a hair stylist just outside of Pierceland. A make-up artist joined them there and they got beautified before heading to a second location to slip into their dresses. The bridesmaids all looked HOT in their smokin’ red dresses. So gorgeous! All the dresses came from Icings Bridal Boutique in Cold Lake, Alberta.
The ladies were only a few minutes late to the Pierceland United Church, where the ceremony was held. It was a teeny, tiny intimate church and the sermon was short and sweet and absolutely perfect!
After a short receiving line, the families and wedding party headed back to the bride & groom’s home on Hwy 21. If you’ve ever been to Saskatchewan, you know that sometimes their “highways” are actually just gravel roads. Good ol’ Saskatchewan! Anyway, the bride and groom have an absolutely stunning piece of Saskatchewan complete with old buildings, a long driveway, big gorgeous trees, muskeg and a hayfield. The weather cooperated and we had an awesome time shooting a fantastic set of formals – well, after we all sprayed ourselves liberally with bug spray, we had fun! They grow those mosquitoes big in Saskatchewan!

The reception was held at the Pierceland Community Hall. The bartenders were members of the Pierceland Volunteer Fire Department (the groom is also a volunteer fire fighter) and the United Church Women catered the delicious meal, complete with homemade cabbage rolls! Yum!
After the supper, it was speech time. They laughed, they cried, they smiled, they grimaced! There were also a couple of great slideshows – one of just pictures, and a second one that included video of the moment Ray asked Adrienne to marry him. It was awesome!!
After speeches, Ray and Adrienne cut the cake, which was made by a family member. It was so beautiful! And it was all buttercream icing and it looked FLAWLESS. Whoever made it is very talented with icing!
Ray and Adrienne were super cute during their first dance. They are a very cuddly couple, and they kept up the contact while dancing to “Missing An Angel” by Johnny Reid. It was a perfect first dance!

I always learn something new about the couple at the reception, and at this one, I discovered the bride and her whole family are AMAZING dancers! They were out there all night shakin’ it regardless of music or style of dance. They knew them all! Adrienne’s sister, Audrey and her husband, Kenny (they were also in the bridal party), were especially incredible! It was mesmerizing to watch them dance together. They were having so much fun!

There was a whole lotta dancing going on! I love a good dancing crowd! Alas, I am not a dancer myself, lacking the natural rhythm required for such activity, but thanks for offering to teach me, Kenny! You’re a sweetie!
We snuck outside near 10:00 for a few quick sunset pictures …

Towards the end of the night, Ray and Adrienne shared their special day with Ray’s parents, who had celebrated their 25th anniversary just a few days before. They called them out to the dance floor and coerced them into dancing to their wedding song – the oldie but goodie, “Just You and I.” It was such a nice moment!
Then, of course, it was bouquet toss time …

The very beautiful bridesmaidĀ Fallon caught it! Fallon just *happens* to haveĀ been dating Ray’s brother, Corey, for the past four years. She insists she’s not getting married for another 10 years as she’s just 19 years old, but she let out a VERY triumphant “YES!” when she caught the bouquet! Fallon, I was your age when I got engaged to MY husband! And Corey looks at you the same way Ray looks at Adrienne …… I’m just sayin’!
Then it was garter time! Ray went digging under all those layers of tulle for the garter and eventually emerged triumphant.

Sadly, Corey did not catch the garter, but he made a very honest attempt to get it! I have pictures to prove it!
At 11:00, the bell tolled and it was time for the photographers to go home before they turned into pumpkins – or something like that – so I snuck in one last shot before leaving.

Congratulations Ray and Adrienne, and thank you so much for choosing me to photograph your special day!
