Editorial work

I got the call late last week from the lovely Mike Byfield of the Oil & Gas Inquirer. He hired me to take some images – including the cover image – for an upcoming issue of the magazine featuring the Lloydminster & area oilfield and related businesses and people.

This kind of work reminds me a lot of my days as editor of a small-town newspaper. Super fun to do, and always great to meet interesting people and learn their stories!

First up was “Mr. Lloydminster,” Vic Juba. Yep, THAT Vic Juba – the one the theatre is named for. A very interesting man!! He worked for Husky for nearly 40 years, most of them at the refinery. It’s safe to say the refinery, and Lloydminster, wouldn’t be the same place it is today without Vic’s years of hard work.

Next up was Brad Matthews of Endeavor Machining Solutions. He was awesome to work with! Super nice guy.

Endeavor – which is owned by Brad – specializes in spraying a protective coating on equipment and parts, increasing the durability and  longevity of the equipment. Neat stuff! Check out their website (link above) for more information.
