Winter weather policy

Canadian winter weather is always unpredictable and may result in sessions being rescheduled at short notice. The following is Jennifer Jacula Photography’s winter weather travel policy:

Temperature
Colder than -15 including windchill:
All outdoor sessions will be rescheduled, or client can choose to come to the studio instead.

Colder than -20 including windchill:
All sessions where photographer must drive more than 30 minutes will be rescheduled. Client may choose to come to the studio instead.

Colder than -25 including windchill
All sessions where photographer must drive 30 minutes or less will be rescheduled. Client may choose to come to the studio instead.

Colder than -30 including windchill
All sessions will be rescheduled or postponed until warmer weather arrives. I don’t want anyone driving unnecessarily when it’s extremely cold!

Precipitation
Freezing rain:
A 50% or greater chance of freezing rain will result in the session being rescheduled. Client may choose to come to the studio instead, however, I recommend rescheduling to when road conditions are more predictable.

Snow:
A 60% or greater chance of snow (not just flurries) will result in the session being rescheduled. Client may choose to come to the studio instead (please see road conditions policy below).

Rural road conditions
My studio is located in a beautiful rural setting, which makes for wonderful photo opportunities, but also means I’m often subject to rural winter road conditions. Our road is not currently on a school bus route and we are often not plowed out by the county for several days after a snow fall – sometimes as long as eight days! Our road tends to drift in at points going both directions and travel may not be possible, even by 4×4 truck. Therefore, some sessions may be rescheduled if getting in or out of the studio is difficult or inadvisable, or if the client does not drive a 4×4 SUV or truck.
If there has been recent snowfall, or recent high winds, please phone the studio to confirm if the rural roads are clear before attempting travel.
