Heinsburg, Alberta – Tarelle & Phil’s wedding
Tarelle & Phil’s wedding had everything good: beautiful bride, handsome groom, live music, family, friends, dogs, kids, short and sweet outdoor ceremony, beautiful natural setting, cabbage rolls, roast beef so tender you could cut it with a plastic knife, laughter, tears and lots of hugs and kisses. It was a perfect, beautiful day to get married!
Tarelle’s sister, Tiana did her hair. It’s good to have a sister who is a hairdresser!

Tarelle had a gorgeous dress! One of her bridesmaids did the honors of lacing her up …

Tarelle is so beautiful!

Stunning. Just … stunning! As an aside – I first met Tarelle years ago. My husband and I are friends with Tarelle’s cousins, Jamie and Aaron. One evening we all loaded up in one of Sharkey buses (there *may* have been alcohol involved), drove to Laurier Lake, and watched a fireworks show, sitting on the beach (one of the people who owns a cabin there also owns a pyrotechnics company and at the end of the season, all the leftovers from the company get used up in a semi-private fireworks show for everyone at the lake. Super cool!). Tarelle – and I think maybe Tiana, too – were there, along with the usual cast of characters from Heinsburg. I remember just being in awe of Tarelle. She has this amazing presence – and it’s not just her height and her beauty. It was only a few hours one evening, and I’m not sure I even talked directly to Tarelle, but I remember being inspired by her. She’s one of those people who makes you a better person, just for having met her. For years, whenever we’d refer to her, we’d call her “Jamie’s tall, beautiful cousin.” She’s awesome! And I was so pleased when Tarelle became engaged to Phil and they chose me to photograph their wedding. It was a true honor!

Ceremony

Tarelle and Phil have the best meet-cute story I’ve ever heard. They attended school together very briefly in Fort Mac as teenagers, before Phil moved away. In their class photo from that year, they’re standing next to each other! Fast forward years later, Phil discovered Facebook. While looking up another friend from Fort Mac, he stumbled across Tarelle’s Facebook profile. He hummed and hawed and wasn’t sure about friend requesting her, but he did, and they started messaging, then e-mailing, then talking on the phone. Finally, they met again in person and fell in love! Facebook FTW!

Phil’s sons, Rylan and Nolan, also received rings and said vows to their parents at the ceremony. It was a beautiful moment! The boys were a big part of the whole day, and at 14 and 16 years old, they are two of the nicest teenage boys you’ll ever meet.

Is she gorgeous, or what? Tarelle is always beautiful, but I thought she looked like a Queen on her wedding day.

The ladies! It was a crazy windy day, so everybody’s hair was everywhere.

The boys, sans groom. We had way too much fun with the bridge that day!

On the catwalk under the bridge. Very cool until a vehicle drives over – then it gets scary!

Getting emotional when Nolan and Rylan got up to give a speech to Tarelle. Not a dry eye in the house! I’m all dark and twisty inside and I bawled like a baby. I teared up again just editing the images of the speech! It was such a sweet moment. Those boys adore Tarelle, and she loves them right back.

I love sneaking outside for a few minutes at sunset, whenever we can get the bride and groom away from the party for a bit. Gorgeous light, gorgeous colors, and it also gives the bride and groom a few minutes away from the crush of people.

First dance! Babe played for this song, too.

Daddy-daughter dance. I love these!

Cutting the cake!

Tarelle and Phil, thank you SO MUCH for choosing me – and my team – to photograph your wedding! It was so much fun, such an honor, and is truly a day I will never forget! I look forward to seeing you again soon – pie anytime!
