Paradise Valley, AB – Erin & Dan’s engagement session

These photos are from August 29 – I know, I am horribly behind on blogging! But I had a great time with Erin and Dan, shooting their engagement session at Erin’s family farm – hogs and all!

I had never really been around pigs much before – so I was surprised to learn how funny they are! Such characters! These ones had their scary canine teeth removed, so it was fun to touch them and let them bump against me with their little piggy noses. Sadly, my husband won’t let me have one.

Towards the end of the session, we entered the golden hour of light. We popped across the road to a wheat field for some more photos with the gorgeous light.

It was great to meet you both, and I wish you the best of luck with your summer 2012 wedding!

Yannick is the genius who refinished my hardwood floors in the studio last year – so it was great to have him back again, and to meet his wife and daughter!

It’s a plethora of dimples!

Yannick is in the Canadian Forces and has been posted back to Quebec in the fall, so they wanted an “Alberta” picture with cowboy hats and cattle!

We went into the studio for some natural light photos as well …

Marwayne, Alberta – Franklin family

Thursday night was awesome. Good people, kids, horses, dogs, awesome rural location and BBQ – the recipe for a gorgeous family session!

Andrew and Leanne. Andrew has the best smile! Men, take note! I first met these two at the Slim Thorpe Gala when they were pitching in with the bartending, and I liked them immediately. They’re just good people!

My favorite, favorite family ever – Brendan, Kaylie, Holden and Billie. LOVE THEM. Kaylie and I plan the Lloydminster bridal show together, among other projects and of course weddings, so her family is just an extension of my own!

Krista, Casin and Kobie – Kaylie’s twin sister and her two kids! I’d never met Krista before, but of course, I now love her too.

Kobie started playing peek-a-boo. So cute!

Paradise Valley, Alberta – Ashley & Ryder

I had so much fun running around the Gilchrist family farm near Paradise Valley, AB for Ashley & Ryder’s portraits last week. Ryder is an ADORABLE two year old boy with tons of energy and personality – it was a blast photographing him and his beautiful mom!

What a cool mom to ride a dirt bike with him!

Sister session – Bailey + Brittany at the studio!

I had a blast earlier this week with two gorgeous local sisters, Bailey and Brittany. They came out to the studio for a sister session and we had a lot of fun taking photos around my farm – complete with my funny farm collection of dogs and cats. Luckily, these two are country girls, so my critters just made the session more fun!

Lloydminster, Alberta – Rock The Dress with Donna and Mark!

Donna and Mark came out for a gorgeous evening session. They were married September 26, 2009 – I didn’t photograph their wedding – and they weren’t happy with their wedding photos. So, they decided last year that for their first anniversary, they’d come and do a Rock The Dress session with me! It was super awesome to hang out with them for an evening and capture their love.

Donna left me this cute message on my facebook wall after seeing her photos:

Marwayne, Alberta – the Franklin family

On Sunday I headed out to the back country near Marwayne, Alberta to take some photos of one of my favorite families – my co-host of Weddings on the Border, Kaylie, her husband Brendan, and their two adorable children.

I love sessions like these – 4x4ing around the countryside, random locations, old vehicles … totally my thing!

This gorgeous family came out to the farm on Saturday for some family photos. Baby Ezra turned one year old the day before, and he brought his parents along for his birthday photo session. I last saw Ezra around Halloween – and he’s all grown up now! And soooo cute!

They looked great on my new old truck!

Many dads have reservations about letting go in front of the camera. Luckily, Steve is not one of them! He put on a clinic of how to rock your daddy/son photos.

Vermilion, Alberta – kittens!

Our friendly neighborhood barn cat had kittens on the night of the 23rd – in the flower bed in front of the window, incidentally. It was a cold night, so momma and her kittens have now taken up residence in our bathtub. But aren’t they cute? Five grey kitties, three girls, two boys.

My daughter is THRILLED!

Mew keeps a close eye on everyone who enters the bathroom.
