Yannick is the genius who refinished my hardwood floors in the studio last year – so it was great to have him back again, and to meet his wife and daughter!

It’s a plethora of dimples!

Yannick is in the Canadian Forces and has been posted back to Quebec in the fall, so they wanted an “Alberta” picture with cowboy hats and cattle!

We went into the studio for some natural light photos as well …

Sister session – Bailey + Brittany at the studio!

I had a blast earlier this week with two gorgeous local sisters, Bailey and Brittany. They came out to the studio for a sister session and we had a lot of fun taking photos around my farm – complete with my funny farm collection of dogs and cats. Luckily, these two are country girls, so my critters just made the session more fun!

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Season’s Greetings, Feliz Navidad … whatever you celebrate this season, I wish you and yours all the best!

The office will be closed December 24-26, December 31, January 1 & 2. Service will be sporadic December 27 – 30. Business as usual returns January 3!

LOTS of studio progress!

Everything is progressing quickly now! The push is on!

On Wednesday, I finished the first coat of pink on the trim on the outside of the studio. You might also notice that the chimney is gone – my husband climbed up and took it apart so that he can clean the bricks up and put it back together.

Then on Thursday, I had to move everything out of the studio so the hardwood refinishing guy could come in on Friday. So, consider these the official “before” photos!

After the second coat of pink was put on the trim – and wow, look at the big mess!!

The outdoor mess got mostly cleaned up today – Saturday is the only day the dump is open here, so we took a big truck load! Yay, no more deep freeze! The chimney is also partially rebuilt, but because it’s mostly on the north side of the house, you can’t tell from this photo.

Yannick Douillard is the guy who is refinishing all the hardwood in the studio. He is doing an AMAZING job. I absolutely could not be happier with him! He worked about 15 hours on his first day (he was still working when I went to sleep!) and didn’t leave until he had applied the sealer. Very hard worker and also a very nice young man! He came back today to put on the first coat of varathane, and tomorrow he’ll be back again for the final coat. I very, very highly recommend Yannick. I LOVE my paint sprayer. Primed the entire south side of the studio in about an hour! I’m hoping to finish painting this side of the studio this week. The rest of the house will probably have to wait until spring; I’m not sure the other sides would dry at this time of year – only the south side gets sunlight all day.

In case you were wondering, one woman can completely lay laminate in a 16×16 room (with the help of a four year old and three kittens) in about five hours. Also, my mitre saw is awesome. If you’re in the market for a mitre saw, definitely get the kind that slides back and forth and can cut bigger boards.

I still need to put the quarter round back on and wash the walls (turns out ripping the floor up is a dirty job. Who knew?), but this room is pretty much done! Just needs the pretty touches – curtains, new light fixture and furniture!
